Standing majestically over the town of Sedan, a symbol of its past warriors, the fortified castle of Sedan is the largest in Europe: 35,000 square metres spread over seven floors with ramparts 30 metres high offering magnificent views over the Meuse valley. This imposing fortress was built on a rocky spur in the 15th century by Evrard de La Mark and remodelled in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The 3-star Hôtel Le Château Fort, with its 54 bedrooms, is situated within the walls of this listed historical monument. With subtle contemporary decor, rooms full of character and celebrated French cuisine, we look forward to welcoming you inside.
A few words about Sedan, a listed "ville d’art et d’histoire" (town of art and history)
Sedan is situated in the Champagne-Ardenne region. It stretches out along the Meuse river at the foot of its incredible fortified castle. The deafening sounds of the arms used in the great battles of the past still resonate through Sedan. The Gros-Chien manor, which became a "royal cloth manufacturer" in 1726, bears witness to the textile and manufacturing past of the town, which was also known as "the Geneva of the north".
